PRESS RELEASE 16 September, 06

1.      The ISC was established after passing of a historic Resolution at the International Sikh Convention held on 13 Nov 05 at Chandigarh. After that rapid strides have been made in enrolling members from amongst Sikh. Scholars, professionals, services, Religions Organisation i.e. from a wide section of Sikh Society in India and the world over. Our recent focus is on Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pardesh and Delhi. This focus will soon shift to all other states of India and then all countries of the world.

2.      We are however happy to say that among our 250 distinguished members we have representation from Delhi, UP, Gujrat and Madya Pradesh. All those who have attended our Nov 05 Convention from foreign countries such as USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore are also our members. Our aim is to have an extensive membership so that we can truly represent our community in various All - India and World Forums.

3.      How do we achieve our Aims and Objectives set out in our Constitution? As you know our major Institutions are often, of late, in turmoil. Decision making at the highest level is often flawed and this has lowered our prestige in the world. To assist existing Sikh Intuitions such as the SGPC arrive at considered decisions with regard to Sikh Maryada, Social and Economic Affairs and International and Legal Affairs. We have activated five Advisory Councils (See page 14 of our Constitution). Eminent professionals head these organizations e.g. Dr S S Johl, Dr G S Kalkat, Giani Harinder Singh, Dr Charan Kamal Singh and Justice Mota Singh QC (UK). Members of these AC’s too will be selected professionals - the top of the line. Soon we shall be posing current and prospective Sikh problems to them for their considered advice to our Executive Committee which will in turn promulgate these where advisable

Communication

4.      We have an established website and are in constant touch with our members, Sikh NGO’s, Associations and Societies by e-mail, letters and telephone.
