MEETING OF THE ADVISORY COUNCIL ON DIASPORA AND LEGAL AFFAIRS
As a result of the meeting held on 5 Dec 06 with H H Jusitce Mota Singh QC in the Chair, we had identified the following issues which the ISC needs to pursue with vigour:-
Legal status of the Jathedar Akal Takht Sahib in Sikh Society.
Defence of our legal rights at the National and International levels.
Defence of Sikh Identity the world over.
Legal recognition of our Anand Karaj ceremony.
Sikh representation in world bodies including the United Nations
Official recognition of Sikh Personal Law.
g. All India Gurdwara Act.
To further examine these issues in some detail, we request you to put forth your views in the next meeting of the Advisory Council which is scheduled from 10.30 AM to 12.30 AM on Sunday 21 st January at Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Kanthala, Tribune Chownk, Chandigarh .
These being a policy group meeting, you are requested to attend and also forward your views in writing as a follow up of the meeting. This will help us take considered decisions on these very important issues and initiate action at the earliest.
We are fortunate in having S H S Phoolka, an eminent Supreme Court Advocate and Human Rights Worker, with us on Sunday morning.
