S. Sukhdev Singh, our special organizer has already sent you information about the ISC. We also spoke on the telephone.
It gives me great pleasure to hear about the prestigious bank that you have founded in Jalandhar after your distinguished service in the Punjab and Sindh Bank. In fact the Sikh Jagat is in need of personalities like you to set in motion a wave for reforms so that our Qaum, especially youth, moves forward wish confidence and greater strength.
As you well know, the SGPC has somehow not been able to meet the aspirations of our intelligentsia and global Sikhs. Here is a void which the world Sikh Council (WSC) tried to fill. Unfortunately internal squabbles did not allow this very good Organisation to fulfill its aims. Today it is non-effective. We at the Institute of Sikh studies. Chandigarh took this as a challenge and after nearly two years of spade work called an International Sikh Convention on 13 th Nov, 2005. After a well attended two day convention at Gurudwara Sahib Kanthala, the congregation unanimously gave their consent to the birth of the ISC. The HQ was quickly established and the organization officially launched on 19 th December, 2005. I and my staff man the HQ office witch is located inside the campus of the Kendri Singh Sabha Sec. 8A Chd.
We have already held three AGM’s and are strictly governed by our well designed constitution which advocates ‘Panth Da Raj’ and looks down upon individual self glory. Our’s is a very well knit team whose sole aim is to serve the Sikh faith.
We have launched the Guru Nanak Education Fund (GNEF) in Dec. 2006 mainly for the uplift if Rural Education and also to ensure that no Sikh youth is held back from higher education due to lack of resources. Do please read our constitution and we urge you to enroll members and officially inaugurate the Jalandhar chapter earliest. We are at your service when you need us.
